Allegheny Energy's new Transmission Operations Headquarters to bring 150 new jobs to Fairmont

Allegheny Energy recently held a groundbreaking ceremony at the site of its new Transmission Operations Headquarters at the I-79 High Technology Park in Fairmont, West Virginia. When completed in mid-2011, the facility will serve as the center for Allegheny's multi-state transmission functions, providing round-the-clock management of the electric grid. The facility will bring approximately 150 new managerial, professional, technical and administrative jobs to Fairmont. The annual payroll and benefits associated with the jobs at this facility are estimated at $12 million.

The state-of-the-art facility is specifically designed to meet the needs of Allegheny's transmission business, which includes two new projects, the Trans-Allegheny Interstate Line (TrAIL) and the Potomac-Appalachian Transmission Highline (PATH), as well as 4,600 miles of existing transmission line. The environmentally friendly building will be certified under the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Rating System.


Site preparation work is underway for Allegheny's new Transmission Operations Headquarters at the I-79 High Technology Park in Fairmont, W. Va. When completed by mid-2011, the facility will house 150 managerial, professional, technical and administrative positions with an annual payroll and benefits of about $12 million.
